ICICI Bank Case Study

ICICI Bank's innovation is basically on the field of financing. Aside form the second to the largest banking in India, ICICI bank sees that poor people will become as a one of the profitable customers. For them people at the Bottom of the pyramid will become the main opportunity for the company. According to K.V. Kamath, CEO and Managing Director of ICICI bank, they want to have a sustainable life the places in India especially on rural areas. They are planning to take proactive approach when entering the retail banking that will satisfy the people of India. The ICICI bank has decided to develop and design a model that is not only a scalable one but also low cost and commercially viable. In other words, they want not only to be a profitable one but also they want to help those poor people and innovate at the same time. They want the poor to be active in socioeconomic processes.

To sum up, ICICI should have a big blast in order to satisfy the people at the BOP. I like the way they formulate their business model and approach through entering the business of retail banking. I think, this innovative aspect will be applicable not only in India but also on the countries experiencing poverty.
